Old timber frame barns dotting former farming areas are the source of much of the reclaimed wood available today. Finding a barn in good enough shape for a reclaim takedown is often a challenge. The barn must be in good enough shape structurally to support a safe takedown since you can't just push it over and recover the 100+ year old beams intact. Careful planning and staging as well as the proper equipment and experience is required to deconstruct structures this large. Often the timber frame is recoverable, although usually in need of some repair on re-erection. These rebuilt timber frame barns become some of the most beautiful buildings you will ever experience as you can see in the Crooked River Wedding Venue and the Learning Center at the Winner Palmer Nature Preserve.
